Decopatch
Decopatch is a playful adaptation of the French word decoupage, or decouper, meaning to cut out. Decopatch is the creative art of assembling, pasting and varnishing paper cutouts to decorate objects, from simple designs to complex works of art. Decoupage goes back as as far as the 12th century, and its fascinating history can be traced in a variety of styles from China, Japan, Europe, Russia and the United States.
What is Decopatch? Decopatch paper is easily applied to any kind of surface. Decopatch is the only paper which produces a smooth texture and a real paint effect. Decopatch paper is deep-dyed and glazed. It will not break apart when glued, and the true colors will never fade or run. Because it is a very thin, but strong and flexible paper, Decopatch is especially easy to use. It can easily cover all kinds of shapes, and because it is very thin, there is no visible seam or layer.
Decopatch papers and glue can be used on wood, metal, paper mache, plastic, ceramic, glass, fabric, acrylic, wax, wicker and cardboard; on any kind of surface (flat or uneven). Decorate frames, boxes, trays, furniture, toys, lamp-shades, vases, dishes, candles, pebbles, paper mache, doors, refrigerators, Christmas ornaments . . . endless possibilities!
